CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today the 32 finalists that participated in the International Edition of the 2019 CEMEX Building Award, a competition that recognizes the best and most innovative construction projects worldwide.

The CEMEX Building Award is one of the most recognized competitions in the construction industry, fostering a culture of sustainability and innovation by recognizing projects and professionals who are leading the way to new and better industry practices.
The International Edition of the CEMEX Building Award is divided into five categories: Residential Housing, Economic Housing, Building, Collective Space, and Infrastructure. It also has four special awards: Universal Accessibility, Innovation in Construction, Social Value, and Sustainable Building.

The jury that determined the winners was made up of 16 judges with extensive experience in the construction sector from six different countries: Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, the United States, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
The awards ceremony will be held in Mexico City on November 7th, 2019, after announcing the winners of the Mexico Edition.
The Mexican sculptor Miguel Ángel González created the statuette that is presented to the winners. Combining black marble and concrete, the award’s inspiration comes from humans’ transformation of the materials at their disposal into elements of architectural, construction, and design expression.
